Learn to add point and paragraph text in Adobe Photoshop to create professional flyers, posters, or magazines.

Add point text

Point text is a single, editable text layer that appears in a straight line without boundaries or a bounding box. It can include line breaks, and it works well for headlines, buttons, or simple annotations.

Select the Horizontal Type tool or the Vertical Type tool from the toolbar.

Select anywhere in the document and start typing to add point text.

A text layer is added in the Layers panel, and you can identify it with the Type icon.

Add paragraph text

Paragraph text is perfect for longer content, such as paragraphs and descriptions. It creates a bounding box around the text, allowing you to edit, resize, shape, and format entire paragraphs within a single layer.

Select the Horizontal Type tool or the Vertical Type tool from the toolbar.

Drag anywhere in the document to add paragraph text.

A text layer is added in the Layers panel, and you can identify it with the Type icon.
