Reconstruct distortions

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn how to restore parts of a distorted image to their original appearance using the Reconstruct tool in the Liquify filter in Adobe Photoshop.

Use the Reconstruct Tool when you’ve applied distortions with Liquify and want to restore specific areas or reset the entire image to its original form. It’s helpful for fine-tuning facial adjustments or softening overdone effects without starting over.

Select Filter > Liquify.

In the Liquify dialog, select the Reconstruct tool from the toolbar.

In the Brush Reconstruct Options section, do one of the following:

  • Select Reconstruct to gradually restore the areas you brush over.
  • Select Restore All to reset all distortions in the image.

Adjust your brush size to control the restoration area.

Select OK to apply the changes.
