Create panoramic images with Photomerge

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn how to stitch multiple images into a single panoramic composition using the Photomerge feature in Adobe Photoshop.

Select File > Automate > Photomerge.

Select Files or Folder from the Use menu in the Photomerge dialog.

Select Browse or Add Open Files to add source images or Remove to delete unwanted photos.

Select a Layout option to define how the images are aligned and blended:

Auto: Automatically arranges images for the best result.

Perspective: Designates the middle image as the reference, adjusting others around it.

Cylindrical: Reduces distortion in wide panoramas.

Spherical: Maps images as if they were inside a sphere—best for 360° panoramas.

Collage: Aligns images without stretching or reshaping.

Reposition: Aligns only by matching overlapping content, without resizing or warping.

To refine the result, select any options:

Blend Images Together: Smooths transitions.

Vignette Removal: Fixes darkened edges.

Geometric Distortion Correction: Corrects lens distortion.

Content Aware Fill Transparent Areas: Fills empty spaces created during alignment.

Select OK to generate the panoramic composition.

Note

Photomerge creates a multi-layer image with masks for optimal blending. To remove empty edges, merge all the layers, then apply Content-Aware Fill from the Edit menu.
