Flip or move text along a path

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Flip text to opposite sides of paths or reposition text along path curves in Adobe Photoshop for precise typography control.

After you add text along a path, you can flip it to the opposite side of the path or move it to any position along the path. This works with both open paths (like lines or curves) and closed paths (like circles or shapes). The text maintains its relationship to the path while you reposition it.

Select the Path Selection tool or the Direct Selection tool from the Tools panel.

Select the text layer from the Layers panel.

Hover over the text path to see the type cursor with a right arrow .

To flip text to the opposite side of the path, select the text and drag it across the path.

Select anywhere on the path to change the text's beginning position. Drag the cursor along the path to move the text.

Tip

For precise control, hover over the end of the text path for the type cursor with a left arrow . Drag it to adjust where you want to end your text.
