Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn how to quickly reverse or reapply actions in Adobe Photoshop using Undo and Redo commands.

The Undo command reverses your last action, while the Redo command reapplies an action you've just undone. Use Undo and Redo commands to correct mistakes, experiment freely, and work more efficiently.

Undo and redo actions

Press Ctrl + Z (Windows) or Command + Z (macOS) to undo your last action.

Press Shift + Ctrl + Z (Windows) or Shift + Command + Z (macOS) to redo the undone action.

Select File > Revert to undo all changes since your last save.

Go to Edit > Undo or Edit > Redo to view the specific action name next to the command. For example, Edit > Undo Typing or Edit > Redo Typing

Switch to legacy undo shortcuts

To restore the traditional undo functionality from earlier Photoshop versions:

Select Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and Menus

Select Use Legacy Undo Shortcuts.
