Apply actions in the Actions panel

Learn how to use the Actions panel to quickly apply common edits, resize images, and export files in Adobe Photoshop on desktop.

Apply actions

Select Window > Actions, or select the Open Action Panel   icon from the Contextual Task Bar.

In the Essentials tab, browse and select a category: Basic AdjustmentsSubject & BackgroundCreative EffectsGuidesResize, and Export.

Hover over an action to preview the effect.

Select the action to apply it.

Note

Actions in the Essentials tab are non-destructive.

Modify actions

Select the Settings <icon reqd here> icon to modify an action and adjust advanced options.

Select Window > Actions, or select the Open Action Panel   icon from the Contextual Task Bar.

In the Essentials tab, select the Settings icon on an action.

Modify the thumbnail icon and color, action name (when editable), action description, keyboard shortcuts, and other settings.

Use action options

Use additional options to edit an action or apply it to specific areas, such as the subject or background.

Select Window > Actions, or select the Open Action Panel   icon from the Contextual Task Bar.

In the Essentials tab, select the More options icon on an action.

Select from options such as Edit Action, Play Action, Apply on subject, and Apply on background.
