Generate an image with descriptive text prompts

Learn how to turn text prompts into images without leaving your workspace in Adobe Photoshop on desktop.

Create and explore new ideas faster with Generate Image   in Photoshop. Describe what you want in a text prompt, and generate high-quality image variations directly on your canvas.

In a new document, select Generate Image  .

In the Contextual Task Bar, enter a text prompt describing the image you want to generate.

Select an Adobe Firefly model or a partner AI model from the model picker.

  • Adobe models: Firefly Image 5, Firefly Image 3
  • Partner models: Gemini 3.1 (with Nano Banana 2), Gemini 3 (with Nano Banana Pro), FLUX.2 pro

Google is deprecating Gemini 2.5 (with Nano Banana) starting October 2, 2026. Photoshop will begin removing this model support on September 10 and with the September 2026 build (v27.11) and later versions. For more information, refer to Generative AI model retirement.

Select Generate  .
