Property
Find detailed specifications for all Transform and Properties panel controls for live shapes.
Use this reference when you need to verify available properties, understand value constraints, or precisely control live shapes using numeric inputs rather than on-shape widgets.
Access live shape properties
Access property controls for live shapes using either method:
- Transform panel: Double-click any corner widget on a selected live shape, or select Window > Transform
- Properties panel: Select Window > Properties, then click the More Options button in the Transform section
For step-by-step instructions on modifying shapes using on-canvas widgets, see Create and modify live shapes.
Rectangle and Rounded Rectangle properties
|
|
Description |
Values and Constraints |
|
Width |
Horizontal dimension of the rectangle |
Any positive value. Corner radii are maintained when dimensions change. |
|
Height |
Vertical dimension of the rectangle |
Any positive value. Corner radii are maintained when dimensions change. |
|
Rectangle Angle |
Rotation angle relative to the canvas |
0° to 360° |
|
Corner Type |
Appearance style for corners |
Round, Inverted Round, or Chamfer. Apply to individual corners or all corners simultaneously. |
|
Corner Radii |
Rounding radius for each corner |
Any positive value up to 50% of the shortest side. Independent control for each corner. |
|
Constrain Width And Height Proportions |
Links corner radius scaling to object transformation |
When enabled, corner radii scale proportionally during transformations. When disabled, radii remain constant. |
When corner radii reach maximum values for the current dimensions, the preview displays in red to indicate the limit.
Ellipse properties
|
Property |
Description |
Values and Constraints |
|
Width |
Horizontal dimension of the ellipse |
Any positive value. When Width equals Height, the shape is a perfect circle. |
|
Height |
Vertical dimension of the ellipse |
Any positive value. When Height equals Width, the shape is a perfect circle. |
|
Ellipse Angle |
Rotation angle of the ellipse relative to the canvas |
0° to 360° |
|
Pie Start Angle |
Starting angle for pie wedge creation |
0° to 360°. Creates open pie shapes when different from Pie End Angle. |
|
Pie End Angle |
Ending angle for pie wedge creation |
0° to 360°. Creates open pie shapes when different from Pie Start Angle. |
|
Constrain Pie Angle |
Maintains the angular difference between start and end angles |
When enabled, adjusting one angle automatically adjusts the other to maintain the wedge size. |
|
Invert Pie |
Swaps Pie Start Angle and Pie End Angle values |
Reverses the pie wedge direction to create complementary slice representations. |
Polygon properties
|
Property |
Description |
Values and Constraints |
|
Polygon Side Count |
Number of sides in the polygon |
3 to 1,000. On-screen widget adjusts between 3-11. Slider adjusts between 3-20. Type values manually for 21-1,000. |
|
Polygon Angle |
Rotation angle of the polygon relative to the canvas |
0° to 360° |
|
Corner Type |
Appearance style for polygon corners |
Round, Inverted Round, or Chamfer |
|
Polygon Radius |
Distance from center to outer vertices |
Any positive value. Determines overall polygon size. |
|
Polygon Side Length |
Length of each individual side |
Any positive value. Adjusting this recalculates the radius. |
|
Corner Radius |
Rounding radius applied to polygon corners |
Any positive value. Applied uniformly to all corners unless edited individually. |
|
Make Sides Equal |
Restores perfect symmetry to modified polygons |
Button available when polygon proportions become irregular. Recalculates side lengths to restore symmetry. |
Modify individual polygon corners using the Direct Selection tool and corner widgets. This can create irregular shapes that require the Make Sides Equal function to restore symmetry.
Line properties
|
Property |
Description |
Values and Constraints |
|
Line Length |
Length of the line segment |
Any positive value |
|
Line Angle |
Angle of the line relative to the canvas horizontal axis |
0° to 360°. 0° creates a horizontal line. 90° creates a vertical line. |
Panel display options
Control Transform panel visibility:
- Show on Shape Creation: Set in Transform panel menu to determine whether the panel opens automatically when creating live shapes
- Show Shape Widgets: Toggle in Control panel to show or hide on-canvas control widgets for selected shapes
Property changes in the Transform panel affect all selected shapes of the same type, regardless of which tool is currently active.
