Create and manage Creative Cloud Libraries

Last updated on Oct 22, 2026

Learn how to create, rename, and delete a Creative Cloud Library in Adobe Illustrator, and copy or move assets between your libraries.

Use these steps to organize your libraries: create new libraries, rename or delete existing ones, and move assets between them.

Open the Libraries panel

Select Window > Libraries. The Libraries panel displays all available libraries and their contents. Use the dropdown menu at the top of the panel to switch between libraries.

Create a new library

In the Libraries panel, select the dropdown menu and select Create New Library.

Type a name for the library, and then select Create.

Rename a library

In the Libraries panel, select a library from the dropdown menu.

Expand the flyout menu, and then select Rename.

Type the new name and press Enter.

Delete a library

In the Libraries panel, select the library you want to delete from the dropdown menu.

Expand the flyout menu, and then select Delete.

Select Delete in the confirmation dialog to permanently remove the library and all its contents.

Alert

Deleting a library permanently removes all its assets. This action can’t be undone.

Copy or move assets between libraries

In the Libraries panel, select one or more assets in the current library.

Right-click an asset and from the context menu, select Copy To or Move To, and then select the library you want to use.

When you copy assets, the originals stay in the source library. When you move assets, Illustrator removes them from the source library and places them in the destination library.
