Package files with fonts and linked images

Last updated on Oct 25, 2026

Learn how to package your Adobe Illustrator document with all linked assets and fonts into a single folder.

When you package a file, Illustrator creates a folder that includes your document, linked graphics, necessary fonts, and a detailed report. This ensures that collaborators or print service providers have everything they need to work with your file.

Use packaging when sharing Illustrator documents with others or sending files to print service providers.

Create a package

Select File > Package.

Choose a save location in the Location field.

Enter a name in the Folder Name field or keep the default name.

Select Copy Links to include all linked graphics in the package.

Select Collect Links in a Separate Folder to organize linked assets in a dedicated Links subfolder.

Select Relink Linked files to the Document to update link paths to the new package location.

Select Copy Fonts used in the Document (Except CJK) to include necessary font files.

You can gather the files you’ve used, including fonts (except Chinese, Korean, and Japanese) and linked graphics, for easy handoff. When you package a file, you create a folder that contains the Illustrator document, any necessary fonts, linked graphics, and a package report. This report, which is saved as a text file, includes the information about the packaged files.

Package dialog box. Packaging creates a folder with your Illustrator document, necessary fonts, linked graphics, and a text report detailing all included files.

Select Create Report to generate a summary text file listing all fonts, colors, and links used in your document.

Select Package.

Note

CJK (Chinese, Korean, and Japanese) fonts can't be copied due to licensing restrictions.
A licensing warning appears when copying fonts. Review your font license to confirm redistribution rights before sharing packaged files.

Understand the package structure

Illustrator creates a main folder that contains:

  • Illustrator documents
  • Document fonts folder (with copied fonts)
  • Links folder (if selected)
  • Package report text file

If you don't select Relink Linked files to the Document, the packaged document still references assets at their original locations. Recipients must manually relink files to use the packaged document.
