Search projects and files using semantic search in Illustrator

Last updated on Oct 14, 2026

Learn how to use semantic search to quickly find your projects and files in Adobe Illustrator without knowing the exact file name.

Semantic search lets you describe what you're looking for in natural language to quickly find your Illustrator projects and files. It's especially useful when you have many projects and only remember details like when you created a file or what it contains.

Open Illustrator.

Select the Your files   or Projects   tab where your file is located.

In the Search field, enter a keyword or type a description of what you're looking for, such as what the file contains or what it's used for, instead of the exact file name.

Tip

Press Enter to search in the current location, or Shift + Enter to search all locations.

Select a result from the list to open that project or file.

Note

Semantic search works best with recently created projects and files. Older content, or files stored outside Illustrator's supported locations, may not appear in results.
