Edit groups with similar objects

Learn how to globally edit similar groups with matching objects in Adobe Illustrator.

In the Quick Actions section of the Properties panel, select the Global Edit Options dropdown menu next to Start Global Edit to find similar objects.

Tip

You can also select the Global Edit Options dropdown menu in the Control panel.

Select Start Global Edit in the Quick Actions section of the Properties panel.

Specify the Global Edit Options to quickly find and update similar objects across groups and keep your design consistent.

Select the specific object inside the group and edit as required. For example, you can move, resize, restyle, or rotate objects within the selected group. Edits made to one group are applied to corresponding objects in all similar groups.

After applying the changes, select Stop Global Edit in the Quick Actions section of the Properties panel or press Esc.

Note

To exclude an object from global editing, press Shift-click to deselect it.
