Edit colors using Edit Colors dialog

Learn how to use Recolor Artwork dialog box to modify colors in your selected artwork globally.

Editing colors in the Recolor Artwork dialog box is a convenient way to adjust the colors in selected artwork globally. It's beneficial when global colors weren't originally used in the artwork’s creation. You can edit colors in the Recolor Artwork dialog box, apply your edits to selected artwork, or save the edited colors for later use.

Select the artwork using the Selection tool.

Select Window > Color Guide, then select Edit or Apply Colors .

In the Recolor Artwork dialog box, select the Edit tab.

Ensure that harmony colors are linked so that all colors move together to preserve their relationship while adjusting.

Select Recolor Art to preview the colors on the selected artwork.

Do any of the following:

  • Select Display smooth color wheel to show hue, saturation, and brightness in a smooth circle.
  • Select Display segmented color wheel to show colors as a set of segmented color patches in a wheel.
  • Select Display color bars to show only colors from the color group as individual solid bars.
The Recolor Artwork dialog box displays a smooth color wheel and highlighted options to select the color display. It also shows options select harmony rules, set names and sliders to adjust hues, saturation and brightness name
Select a smooth color wheel, a segmented color wheel, or color bars to display and edit colors.

Adjust the colors by doing any of the following:

  • For the smooth or segmented color wheel, drag the color handles to adjust colors.
  • For the color bars, select a color bar and then adjust the color properties using the H, S, and B sliders.

Select Save changes to swatch group to save changes.
