Learn how to send error reports and diagnostic files to resolve Adobe Illustrator crash issues.
When Adobe Illustrator crashes unexpectedly, submitting crash reports and system diagnostics helps Adobe engineers identify and fix issues. This process captures technical details about what happened during the crash.
Use these procedures immediately after Illustrator crashes and displays an error dialog. The crash report dialogs appear automatically in Illustrator 22.0 (October 2017) and later Windows, and in all versions on macOS.
Time-sensitive system information may be lost if you restart your computer before collecting these files.
The submission process differs between Windows and macOS. Follow the instructions for your operating system.
Windows crash report workflow
Select the Adobe may contact me for fixes and workarounds at checkbox and enter your email address.
Select Send report.
In Windows search, type msinfo32 and press Enter to open System Information.
Select File > Save and save the file to your desktop as Illustrator.nfo.
If a specific file triggered the crash, copy that file to your desktop.
Create a zip folder containing Illustrator.nfo and any crash-triggering file, then send it to sharewithai@adobe.com.
macOS crash report workflow
Select Report in the Adobe Illustrator quit unexpectedly dialog.
Copy all the information displayed in the crash report dialog.
Open TextEdit, paste the copied information, and save the file to your desktop as Illustrator_crash_log.
Close the Adobe quit unexpectedly dialog.

Select Send report.
Note
If the Error Report dialog doesn't appear after Step 4, skip Steps 5-7 and continue with system diagnostics collection.
Collect macOS system diagnostics
Select Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
Type sudo sysdiagnose in the Terminal window.
Enter your password and press Return.
Press Return again when prompted.
After the process completes and the temp folder opens automatically, copy the sysdiagnose tar.gz file from the temp folder to your desktop.
If a specific file triggered the crash, copy that file to your desktop.
Create a zip folder containing Illustrator_crash_log, the sysdiagnose file, and any crash-triggering file, then send it to sharewithai@adobe.com.
