About Adobe Asian composers

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn how Adobe Asian composers allow you to create content in Middle Eastern and South Asian languages.

In Adobe Illustrator, you can create documents using Indic, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian languages. The Middle Eastern and South Asian Composer provides correct word shaping for many non-Western scripts. You can type in and mix between Arabic, Hebrew, English, and other languages. You can also save your files with Arabic and Hebrew names.

For example, you can use the Middle Eastern & South Asian Single-line Composer or the Middle Eastern & South Asian Every-line Composer.

Refer to Composer for Asian scripts for details about other supported Asian languages in Illustrator.

Screenshot of Adobe Illustrator showing the Paragraph panel with the Composer options menu expanded. The option "Middle Eastern and South Asian Single-line Composer" is selected. This setting controls how text is composed line by line, especially for languages with right-to-left and complex script requirements.
To create content in Asian languages, select the Middle Eastern & South Asian Single-line Composer from the Paragraph panel menu.

Support for Arabic and Hebrew

  • Illustrator supports Arabic and Hebrew in certain versions with full right-to-left language support, including Arabic/Hebrew features.
  • Middle Eastern version with an English interface
  • North African French (Français*) version with a French interface
  • In the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean versions of Illustrator, text direction, digit types, automatic Kashida insertion, and diacritical marks are not available.
