Learn how to save your artwork in the native Adobe Illustrator AI format to preserve full editability, then export other formats when needed.
The native Illustrator AI format preserves all your artwork data, including multiple artboards, layers, transparency, effects, and editable text.
So, you can reopen and modify them without losing information, then export to a format like EPS, SVG, or PDF once your design is final.
Type a filename and select a location for the file.
Select Adobe Illustrator (*.AI) as the file format and then select Save.
In the Illustrator Options dialog box, keep the default version.
Select Create PDF Compatible File to open the file in other Adobe apps.
Set other Illustrator Options as needed, and then select OK.
