Learn how to edit and manage your Illustrator (Beta) artwork directly from your AI tool.

Before you begin

Ensure that you:

  • Install the latest version of Illustrator (Beta) 
  • Install a desktop AI tool such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex on the same computer as Illustrator (Beta)
  • Create an MCP connection from Illustrator (Beta) to a desktop AI tool
  • Maintain a stable network connection

Edit and manage Illustrator (Beta) documents from the AI tool

Open Illustrator (Beta), and then switch to the required document to make it the active document.

Open the AI tool to which you created the MCP server connection.

In the AI tool's prompt interface, describe a task involving any combination of the supported tools or actions given in the table, and then press Enter. The prompt interface will show the progress of the task, and then ask you to accept or reject the suggested changes. Accept them to see the changes in the document.

To undo changes, press Command + Z (macOS) or Ctrl + Z (Windows) in Illustrator (Beta).
