Learn how to create and open swatch libraries in Illustrator.
Create a Swatch Library
In the Swatches panel, create or edit the swatches you want to include in the Swatch library.
In the Swatches panel, select More options and select any of the given options as required:
- Save Swatch Library as ASE: Saves colors in a file that can be used in other Adobe software like Photoshop.
- Swatch Library as AI: Saves colors as an Illustrator file that opens directly in Illustrator.
Enter the file name and select Save.
Open a Swatch Library
Select Window > Swatches.
In the Swatches panel, select More options > Open Swatch Library. Then, select the desired library from the list.
Note
Select User Defined option to access the custom libraries.
