Reuse graph designs

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn to reuse an existing graph design to create a new customized graph.

You can reuse a graph design you made and change it to create a new one. If you have the original artwork, you can modify it and give it a new name. If the original artwork isn't set up as a graph design, you can get it back by pasting the graph design into your artwork.

Go to Select > Deselect to deselect all the artwork.

Select Object > Graph > Design.

In the Graph Design dialog box, select the design you want to paste into your artwork, then select Paste Design.

The Graph Design dialog shows New Design 2 option selected, Paste Design highlighted, a blue hexagon preview, and OK/Cancel buttons.
Select a saved design to insert it into your artwork for consistent styling.

Select OK. The graph design is pasted into your artwork. You can now edit it and define it as a new graph design.

Edit the pasted graph design and define it as a new graph design.

Select the graph, then select Object > Graph > Design. Select Save Design to save the edited design as a new graph design.

Enter a name for the custom graph and select OK.

Once you've created your new graph design, you can apply it to any appropriate graph type in your document. The design will be available in the Graph Design dialog box for future use.
