Set image size and resolution

Learn how to access and use the Image Size dialog box in Adobe Photoshop.

Select Image > Image Size.

Adjust the following options in the Image Size dialog:

  • Image Size: Displays the current file size of your image.
  • Dimensions: Shows the total pixel count of the image (width × height).
  • Fit To: Provides preset options to resize your image quickly to common sizes.
  • Width: Defines the horizontal size of the image.
  • Height: Defines the vertical size of the image.
  • Resolution: Specifies the number of pixels per inch (ppi) for print quality.
  • Resample: Adds or removes pixels to resize the image without altering resolution.

Select the settings  icon to resize applied layer styles proportionally.

View real-time updates of your image in the preview window.

The Zoom in and Zoom out button is highlighted in the Image size dialog box, along with additional settings such as image size, dimension, fit to, height, width, and so on.
Select the button to zoom in and out.
