Use reference images for consistent results

Use Reference Image to guide generative results for consistent appearance or composition in Adobe Photoshop.

With an active selection, select Generative Fill .

Select Reference image  from the Contextual Task Bar.

Select Choose image, then upload the image you want Photoshop to reference.

Set how the reference is used:

  • Reference to:
    • Object: References a single subject.
    • Whole image: References the entire scene.
  • Intent:
    • Swap the selected area: Replaces an existing object in the selected area.
    • Place into the selected area: Adds an object while preserving the background.
    • Replace background: Replaces the background based on the reference image.

Select Generate .
