Save and manage cloud documents

Last updated on Oct 4, 2026

Use cloud documents to access your work anywhere and organize files with folders, offline access, and archive options.

Cloud documents automatically sync your edits to Adobe's cloud storage, enabling you to work across devices while maintaining access to your files both online and offline.

Cloud documents use Adobe's cloud-native file format optimized for cross-device workflows. This procedure covers desktop workflows for saving, accessing, and organizing cloud documents. For collaborative editing workflows, see Share your Photoshop documents for review. To browse and restore previous versions, see View version history.

Save a file as a cloud document

When you save a Photoshop file, you can choose between cloud storage and local storage. Cloud documents sync automatically across devices signed in with your Adobe ID.

Save a new or existing file to cloud documents

Select File > Save, Save As, or Save a Copy.

In the save dialog, select Save to cloud documents.

Enter a filename and select Save.

Your file appears in the home screen under Recent and in the Cloud documents section under Files > Your files.

Access cloud documents in Photoshop

The home screen provides centralized access to your cloud documents with sorting, filtering, and view options.

View and filter your cloud documents

Go to Files > Your files in the home screen.

Sort documents by selecting Date Modified or Name with ascending or descending order.

Switch between list view and grid view using the view icons in the toolbar.

In Photoshop 23.2 and later, enter a keyword in the filter field to search cloud documents.

Note

When offline, keyword filtering still works but cloud documents available online only appear greyed out.

Cloud documents you own or that others have shared with you also appear under Recent in the home screen.

Make cloud documents available offline

By default, cloud documents require an internet connection. Making a document available offline downloads it to your device for uninterrupted access.

Download a cloud document for offline use

Navigate to Cloud documents in the home screen.

Select the three dots icon below the cloud document thumbnail.

Select Make available offline always.

Open the document to begin editing offline.

When you reconnect to the internet, your offline edits sync automatically across devices. To remove the local copy and work online only, select the three dots icon and choose Make available online only.

Organize cloud documents

Photoshop provides tools to rename, move, and delete cloud documents. Deleted documents move to an archive section where you can restore or permanently remove them.

Rename a cloud document

Select the three dots icon below the cloud document thumbnail.

Select Rename.

Enter a new name and confirm.

Move cloud documents to folders

Select the three dots icon below the cloud document thumbnail.

Select Move To.

In the panel that opens, select an existing folder or use the Add folder icon to create one.

Select Move to complete the operation or Cancel to exit.

Tip

To move multiple cloud documents simultaneously, enable the checkbox below the Cloud documents section header to enter multi-select mode.

Delete and restore cloud documents

Select the three dots icon below the cloud document thumbnail.

Select Delete.

To restore or permanently delete, navigate to the Deleted section in the home screen.

Select the three dots icon below a deleted document and choose Restore or Permanently Delete.

Restored documents reappear under Cloud documents. Permanently deleting documents clears storage from your cloud quota. For more information about storage limits, see File storage and quota.
