Find configuration flags, file paths, and version compatibility for specialized Photoshop behaviors.

Consult this reference when troubleshooting performance issues, configuring GPU settings on specific hardware, or enabling specialized behaviors not available through Photoshop's preferences interface.

File location and format

Create a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt using Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (macOS) and save it to your Photoshop settings folder:

Windows: C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop\Adobe Photoshop Settings

macOS: /Users/<user>/Library/Preferences/<version>Settings/

The user Library folder is hidden on macOS. See Access hidden user library files for instructions.

Enter each extension flag on a separate line. Restart Photoshop after creating or modifying this file for changes to take effect.
