Display file information in the info panel and document status bar

Use the document status bar and Info panel to monitor image properties, color values, and workspace metrics in photoshop.
Learn how to use the document status bar for quick reference to file size, dimensions, color profile, and GPU mode. The Info panel provides more detailed monitoring, including live color values under your pointer, coordinate positions, and customizable status information.
The status bar displays automatically with every open document, while the Info panel requires a one-time setup to match your workflow needs.
Check file data in the document status bar
Select the document status menu located beside document status display at the bottom of document window.
Choose your preferred view option from the menu.
Tip
Select the status bar area to display document width, height, channels, and resolution. Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (macOS) to see tile dimensions.
Access the Info panel
Select Window > Info to display the panel.
Select Info panel menu and choose Panel Options.
Choose a display mode for First Color Readout:
- Actual Color (current color mode)
- Proof Color (output color space), a specific color mode (RGB or CMYK)
- Total Ink (CMYK percentage)
- Opacity (current layer transparency).
Choose a different display mode to monitor two color spaces simultaneously from Second Color Readout drop-down.
Select your preferred unit of measurement from Ruler Units.
Select required file data to display from Status Information.
Select Show Tool Hints for contextual guidance, and for the active tool to appear at the bottom of the Info panel.
Select OK to save your configuration.
Note
You can also configure color readout modes quickly by selecting the eyedropper icon directly in the Info panel and choosing options from the menu. This menu also lets you switch between 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit value displays.
