Capture diagnostic logs for Adobe Photoshop input issues

Last updated on Oct 4, 2026

Learn how to capture diagnostic logs for keyboard and mouse issues in Adobe Photoshop on desktop when Adobe Support needs event data to investigate input problems.

You experience missed keystrokes, unresponsive keyboard shortcuts, erratic cursor behavior, or tools that don't respond to clicks. Adobe Support may request Event Logger data to investigate the issue.

Event Logger is disabled by default

Open the Photoshop Settings folder for your installed version.

  • macOS: /Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop <version> Settings/
  • Windows: <installation drive>:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop <version>\Adobe Photoshop <version> Settings\

Create or edit PSUserConfig.txt, and add TraceKeyAndMouseEvents 1.

Create or edit pslogSettings.txt, and add LogKeyAndMouseEvents=1.

Restart Photoshop.

Select Help > Start Logging Events.

Replace <version> with the actual folder name used by the installed Photoshop version before publishing. The official Event Logger reference is older and uses different version-specific folder names.

Event Logger must be running when the problem occurs

Work in Photoshop until the input problem occurs, then start logging and reproduce the problem while logging is active.
