Sync presets on multiple devices

Last updated on Oct 4, 2026

Learn how to transfer brushes, gradients, and other presets between computers in Adobe Photoshop.

Preset Sync was discontinued in Photoshop 25.0 (September 2023). Presets are now stored locally and must be transferred manually between devices.

Restore presets after upgrading to Photoshop 25.0 or later

If your presets appear different after upgrading to Photoshop 25.0 or later, restore the preset files from your previous Photoshop installation.

Close Photoshop.

Navigate to the settings folder for the earlier Photoshop version:

  • macOS:
    /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
  • Windows:
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop [version]\Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Copy the following files:

  • Brushes.psp
  • CustomShapes.psp
  • Gradients.psp
  • Patterns.psp
  • Styles.psp
  • Swatches.psp

Paste the files into the Photoshop 2024 Settings folder:

  • macOS:
    /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings
  • Windows:
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings

Relaunch Photoshop.

This method restores brushes, gradients, patterns, swatches, shapes, and styles from the previous installation.

Export and transfer presets manually

Open Photoshop.

Select Window > Brushes, Window > Gradients, or the panel for the preset type you want to export.

Open the panel menu and select the appropriate export option, such as Export Selected Brushes or Export Selected Gradients.

Save the exported file to a location accessible from the other computer, such as a USB drive, network location, or cloud storage.

Import the preset file on the destination computer.

For preset types that don't support panel export, select Edit > Presets and then Preset Manager. Select Save Set to create a transferable preset file.
