The current and prior versions are available for installation through the Creative Cloud Desktop app.
Note
By default, Photoshop removes old versions when you update to a major release. You can change this behavior in Creative Cloud Desktop app settings.
Version verification methods
Check your Photoshop version
To verify your installed Photoshop version:
- macOS: Choose Photoshop > About Photoshop
- Windows: Choose Help > About Photoshop
The version number appears in the dialog that opens.
Check your Camera Raw version
To verify your installed Camera Raw version:
- macOS: Choose Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
- Windows: Choose Help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
The version information displays in the about window.
Update considerations for major releases
When updating to a major version, plan for these potential requirements:
- Prior version retention: Configure Creative Cloud Desktop app to retain your previous version until you confirm the new version meets your needs. Select Advanced Options and clear Remove old versions during installation.
- Third-party plug-ins: Reinstall any plug-ins that haven't been updated to use the Shared Creative Cloud Plug-in Location. For troubleshooting plug-in issues, see Photoshop plug-in troubleshooting.
- Third-party extensions: Reinstall extensions not installed through Adobe Add-ons.

Checking for updates
Launch Photoshop and choose Help > Updates to check for available updates through the Creative Cloud Desktop app.
