Smooth skin in your images

Learn how to apply neural filter-based quick actions to reduce blemishes and smooth facial features in Adobe Photoshop.

Reduce blemishes, acne, and other skin imperfections in portrait photos without manual retouching.

The Smooth skin quick action uses Neural filters technology to automatically detect and soften skin while preserving natural texture and facial detail. It works best on portrait images with clearly visible faces. Preview the results instantly, then refine the effect by applying it to different layers or reverting changes as needed. For more precise edits, use manual retouching with either the Spot Healing Brush tool or the Clone Stamp tool.

Apply skin smoothing to your image

Access the Discover panel in Photoshop using the Search icon at the upper right of the app workspace, or press Ctrl + F (Windows) or Command + F (macOS).

In the Discover panel, search for Smooth skin, and then select Smooth skin from the QUICK ACTIONS group.

If this is your first time using the action, select Download to install the neural filter, then select Apply once the download completes.

Select Apply to smooth skin tones in the active layer.

Tip

To apply the effect to a different layer, select it in the Layers panel and select Refresh in the Discover panel.

To undo all changes made by the quick action at once, select Revert in the Discover panel. To explore additional creative effects, select Browse more quick actions.
