Can't find your presets, actions, plug-ins, or settings in Photoshop? Try the suggested solutions to restore them.

Migrate actions from a previous installation

If you had actions in a previous Photoshop installation, you can migrate the actions to your new Photoshop installation.

Migrate settings from a previous installation

Settings typically migrate automatically when you update Photoshop to the latest version. You can also manually copy settings from one installation to another by following the steps to manually copy settings.

Copy presets between computers

You can export and import presets such as brushes to transfer them between computers.

Install or migrate multiple Camera Raw presets

If your presets are in a ZIP file or folder, copy the XMP files to the appropriate location:

  • macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Camera Raw/Settings
  • Windows: C:/Users/<user name>/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings

To migrate presets between computers, copy the contents of this folder from the source computer to the same location on the target computer.
Restore third-party plug-ins after an update

Download the latest version of the plug-in installer from the vendor's website and install it. You need administrator-level privileges to install third-party plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop. If you don't have the required privileges, contact your organization's system administrator.

Resolve the Generator error

If you see the error "There is a problem with Generator. Please quit Photoshop and try again. If the problem persists, remove any third-party plug-ins or try to reinstall Photoshop," try the suggested Generator troubleshooting solutions.
