Learn how to use quick actions to apply an artistic woodcut effect to photos with blue tones in Adobe Photoshop.

Transform images with blue tones into vintage-style woodcut artwork with a single click. The Woodcut Print filter applies stylized engraving effects that create a refined, classic print aesthetic ideal for creative projects and composites.

This quick action works best on images with prominent blue elements, such as skies, water, or blue-toned subjects. Apply the effect to any unlocked layer in your document for instant artistic results.

Apply the filter through quick actions

Open your image in Photoshop.

Access the Discover panel in Photoshop using the Search icon at the upper right of the app workspace, or press Ctrl + F (Windows) or Command + F (macOS).

In the Discover panel, search for woodcut print filter, and then select Woodcut print filter from the QUICK ACTIONS group.

If this is your first time using the action, select Download to install woodcut print filter and neural filter options, then select Apply once the download completes.

Select Apply to transform your image with the woodcut effect.

Tip

To apply the effect to a different layer, select that layer in the Layers panel, then select Refresh in the Discover panel.

Refine the woodcut effect

After applying the quick action, you can fine-tune the result through Neural Filters to match your creative vision.

Select Filter > Neural Filters from the menu or press (Alt + Ctrl + F).

In the Neural Filters dialog box, select Style Transfer from the CREATIVE preset group.

Select a style from either the Presets group or the Custom group.

Adjust the Strength to control the intensity of the brushstroke effect.

Adjust the Style Opacity and other parameters to refine the overall appearance of the woodcut print effect.

Select OK.

To undo all changes made by the quick action at once, select Revert in the Discover panel. To explore additional creative effects, select Browse more quick actions.
