With one click, you can transform your color photos into stark monochrome images in Photoshop and have them ready to use in your composites.

  1. You can access the Discover Panel in Photoshop using the search icon at the upper right of the interface. Alternatively, you can use the Cmd/Ctrl + F keyboard shortcut or choose Help > Photoshop Help from the menu bar.

  2. In the Discover Panel dialog box, navigate to the Browse > Quick Actions section and scroll down to the Make image B/W quick action.

  3. Click the Apply button and you will see that your image appears desaturated, bringing your subject into sharp focus without any distraction created by colors.

    Note

To try on a different layer, select the one you want from the Layers panel, then click Refresh.

  4. You can further refine your action on the image by going to Filter > Filter Gallery and adjusting the contrast and color settings.

  5. Click the Revert button to undo the quick action's steps all at once. Click Browse more quick actions to choose from a variety of quick actions you can apply to your image.
